There is currently no direct coach services linking London and Greenock... And the closest you can get is to Glasgow... Currently UK largest coach compary (www.nationalexpress.com) provide a 3Daily services linking London and Glasgow... The coach journey take approximately 8hours 30mins... The standard return ticket fare is GBP39.5 while FunFare are available starting from GBP1 per way... FunFare tickets are to be booked online and only limited seats are avaiable... So I would suggest you to book in advance...
Other than coach services, you can consider flying up to Glasgow by BMI, EasyJet or British Airways... EasyJet (www.easyjet.com) provide flights to Glasgow departing from London Gatwick/Luton/Stansted for GBP50 include tax... For BMI (www.flybmi.com) which fly to Glasgow from London Heathrow, fare are at GBP71 include tax while finally British Airways (www.ba.com), which fly to Glasgow from London City/Gatwick/Heathrow, fare are at GBP80... However, fares vary depending on date of your travel but the flight time is around 1hour 20mins (including early check-in and everything, it would be around 4hours)...
For chinese dry food, I would suggest you to put them in your check-in luggage... Although they are not premitted to be brough into the country, but usually when most Hong Kong flights arrive into UK at early morning... There are very few custom staff around so the chance of being checked is not very high...
*If you are planning to fly to Glasgow, I wouldnt suggest you to fly with Ryanair as they fly to Gatwick (Preswick) airport which is miles away from Glasgow while British Airways/BMI/EasyJet fly to Glasgow main airport which would be easier to get into central Glasgow to get connection to Greenock...
@Fare wise, I would suggest you to take the coach, as there are overnight NationalExpress services from London to Glasgow... And the fare are much lower than flying and the timing is not significant if you take the overnight coach... And the coach take you into heart of Glasgow which would be more converience for you to get to Greenock...
