In the equation: L = I.ω
I is the moment of inertia of the rotating body, and ω is the angular velocity.
It all depends what moment of inertia you used in the equation. Should you use the moment of inertia of the rigid body about the axis of rotation for I, the value of L would be the angular momentum for that rigid body.
